It's a "Christmas miracle"
One local jewelry-maker's stolen items return after two months missing
On October 20, Seabright resident and jewelry studio owner Isabel Wilson took to Nextdoor, claiming that on the last day of Open Studio, she was “sad and dejected” to discover that several pieces of her jewelry had been stolen:
“This one of a kind necklace, with tourmaline beads that I can’t get easily was taken. The thief left the matching earrings and stole the pair I had in silver. Another necklace with a color of glass I cannot order was taken as well as a second pair of earrings. This happened while I was demonstrating to visitors how I make my glass beads inside my studio.”
Wilson went on to say that during the more than 20 years participating in the city’s Open Studio program, she’s only seen one pair of earrings stolen.
“I have been lulled into a false sense of security that my visitors are art lovers, at my house and therefore respectful. More than 99% are, so many wonderful experiences over the years. I am still shocked and hurt by the theft and I know nothing will come from posting this. However if you see this necklace on someone, either she is the thief or it was given to her by the thief.”
Suddenly, on December 21, Wilson went back onto Nextdoor saying that the items were returned:
“Christmas miracle? The person who stole jewelry on the last day of open studio just sent it back to me in the mail!!! I am so blown away. Just had to let you all know! Happy holidays and perhaps there is light at the end of our dark tunnel. Cheers!”
This time of year reminds us that no one is perfect and/but it’s never too late to do the right thing.
Happy holidays, from The 831!
